Very sad

I idolised Alex in the 70's and 80's. He had a magic in the sporting arena only matched by Muhammad Ali.
I did hear enough however to convince me this drama is very close to the truth, and that he was an obnoxious, bitter man. He could never find it to blame himself for anything.
The story, of flawed genius is very sad though. The play is well worth watching, with an excellent lead performance.
And for those old enough to remember him in his peak, the memory of the adrenalin one felt when he entered the arena... Quite a legacy.

I was just watching this and went straight to youtube to watch the '82 final - I remember I was 8 years old and my Dad woke me up to see it live - amazing stuff - also managed to meet Alex shortly before he died when he played at our local snooker club... he was beaten by nearly everyone, such a sad decline... :(
