Higgins always maintained he was loved by the public.

Lets see how the results of the BBC Sports Personality Of The Year bears him out with regard to how snooker players have faired.

Winner: 1988
Second: 1981, 1987
Third: 1984, 1989

Steven Hendry
Second: 1990

Alex Higgins
Second: 1982

Hardly "The Peoples Champion".

Do you actually think that people would watch this film if Alex Higgins wasn't the central character of course he was the People's Champion snooker would be nothing without Alex Higgins as much as they tried to keep him out of the game they had to put him into this Film
