They are talking about Michelle Obama making an appearance but failed mention that Laura Bush did same thing. So it is okay for Laura Bush do it but not for Michelle Obama?

It's different because having a member of the First Family announce BEST PICTURE - basically the moment of the night everyone was waiting for - the pinnacle of the show - WAS unprecedented.

I'd venture to guess the First Lady was invited. I'm not sure why it was necessary for her to announce that particular award however. There were so many other things she could have done for the show.
