Spoilerwarning)The meaning(that I took from)theUnfinishedSwa n

going threw the story.. I found something that touched me in a way.. My family is a divorced family.. But my mom left us.. And my dad is hardly home because he's a workaholic.. Different from what the story tells but it still touched those feelings of not being whole. You see Monroe was the unfinished swan trying to be whole again and the mother left the king pregnant because he wouldn't stop obsessing over perfection... She left and he willows in doubts and fears and questions of perfection or if it even mattered.. All alone in his chair. She took care of Monroe as much as she could up till her death. And from that point Monroe set out to find a way to be whole and not an unfinished swan like his painting counterpart. The king couldn't be happy because he wanted everything to be perfect and nobody liked his kingdom in Otha different ways... So he escaped to an Island that would seclude him so he can start over.. Like someone moving away to start a new life again and he still wasn't happy.. So he made/found a wife who cared for him.. And it never seemed like the care was returned from the king and she kept making Unfinished paintings of wild life as the king "perfected" in his ways.. Only finding out she was pregnant from his own eyes... She felt unfinished and she didn't want her child to feel that way too..so she left while pregnant leaving him alone to "prefect"...... But he couldn't without her... So in the story he slept (possibly meaning he did nothing but morned his loss) as all he perfected seems to crumble wile he slept... He says he dreamed of life and light... (This part where he tells his dream you are him).. The ballroom was lit up with happy faces... Then it turned dark (his own happiness were the faces and the darkness is the abandonment of his Queen.).....He then saw a funeral.... Nobody was there.. Except Monroe (this point you are Monroe again and as you see the who died... It's the king. The king was scared to be alone... But also wanted things to be perfect..... In the end.. His own son was the only one who showed up to his funeral.) And then Monroe (the king dreaming it was him seeing the monument as one thing he could leave behind as a legacy) walked towards to monument on the lone island and got bigger...(the king explained the growth of him getting larger and larger was like growing up...).. Then Knocking over the monument (for the monument wasn't his only thing that he could leave behind as a legacy) then the empty kingdom... (Knowing he didn't have to be his father)... Still, the king spoke of this dream as if it was him... And he said that he knew his work would be ruined and painted over like I have before (generation following generation). And he said at the end of the dream he awoke to fin Monroe.. And he was happy again... He gave Monroe his Silver Painbrush and lead him home... "And that night, even though Monroe was very tired, Monroe did something that would have made his mother very happy.... He painted." (That ending was Monroe's closure from his parents and his life moving forward).... A lot of what I have said is quoted and official confirmations about the story... But the other most of it was from what I took away from it... And more...

I hope this was insightful.. I'd love to hear feedback on my theory. Then again.. This game is a lot easter to read then a game like Braid (no pun intended).
