How else do you think he is buying/bought a property @ Palm Jumeirah?
[People's stupidity + Promos] - [Basic human intellect + discretion]= Palm Jumeirah :D

P.S. Haven't seen the movie yet, waiting for the torrents to come out[ain't gonna pay a dime for this crap]. Maybe tomorrow i'll write my take on this.

reply

The Palm Jumeirah property was given to him, as I understand it. Do you have proof to the contrary?

Having said that, I read that he was in the top five of all performers worldwide as to net worth. One never knows on those polls, though.

You are not going to see the film? Keep your comments to yourself, in my opinion. The SRK and Indian cinema board are full of SRK-is-too-commercial comments. The dichotomy between commercial entertainment and art has been there since time began. The comments are, therefore, not interesting.

PS: I live in a place where I can't see the film so will have to wait a year or so.

Thats what they all say. Now, lets educate ourselves on this. In simple terms and without delving in too many intricacies, if I buy property, I will be liable for taxes one way or another. However if I show it on papers that it is gifted, I am not. lol!

P.S. Arguments are to be continued after I have watched the film - not before. Till then: http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/Taxmans-notice-to-SRK-over-gifted-Dubai-villa/articleshow/7250195.cms

I though Salman Khan was the king of box office...he has the most 100 crore movies right?? So he is the money minded person because he makes money by making remakes of shambolic unrealistic tamil movies. You can vote 1/10 and hate SRK as much you want but you can never change the fact that he is the biggest superstar from India. You can't change that so stop whining because it's all in vain and get a life.

reply

Do not strain yourself imbecile. I am not fan of anyone that has sprung forth from the loins of mother Earth. So I speak not for anyone nor demean none. ;)

reply

You are the bigger imbecile by wasting your time thinking how SRK bought his property or how he is paying taxes or not and also by complementing the bigger imbecile who is the creator of this thread. Instead of trying to put him down, take inspiration from the guy how he has worked so hard to reach this level and educate yourself to a level so that you can achieve 1% of what the man has achieved.

reply

Ouch!!!

~I think I just touched a nerve~

reply

Ouch you imbecile. Go back to Gaymir's movie threads.

Not sure what country you are from but in the US, generally, you do pay annual taxes on gifted property.

There are all sorts of taxes on property, conveyance taxes, annual property taxes, etc. Not sure what taxman is making a claim on SRK's gifted property. The income tax man?

We are far afield from the point first made. That SRK is rich. He is rich just not for the reasons put forth.

And, "mynameisnobody" or whatever your user name is this week, you sure throw the word "bigot" around loosely. Like I have told you for a couple years now, get a life.

True, but we are discussing property purchased outside of one's own country. Capital gains tax exemption that you have to pay if you buy property at an international location. But I think they are trying to slap more taxes on him than what they usually do because of his status.

It's one of many such reasons. But films used to be his primary source of income from where he acquired the necessary capital to invest in other places. Films that were successful by testing the sanity of the 'mango-man'.

This being one of the better examples of such.

I chide and pester nobody.

You can criticize SRK all you want.

I am not an "old lady". I am a person with lots of experience.

I am far, far from infatuated with any of the movie actors, actresses, directors, producers I enjoy.

Just leave me alone in the last years I have on this earth.

I agree that free speech principles includes you knocking my opinions out of the park. However, you don't do that. You get personal. In a civilized society, that is unnecessary.

No, I am not staying off SRK sites.

You don't have to leave my opinions alone, just stop the ad hominem arguments. Easy. Deal?

reply

[deleted]

When did you get personal? When you called me an old lady. "Getting a life" means conversing civilly without personal comments. You can say bad things about SRK all you want. The PERSON disagreeing with you is off limits. His or her comments aren't. Simple concept. I asked you if you would agree to not be personal towards me. I meant to not bolster your arguments against any of us using opinions of a personal nature. Read the rules of debate. If you follow them, your opinions will be listened to more consistently. As soon as you use words like "extremely prejudiced" and "old lady", readers stop reading. Cheers.

It's odd that your reply would come through just now because I am going to see PK in a few minutes. It's showing in my small-ish city on the west coast of US.

I've always made a habit of not comparing movies and, of course, never by imdb ratings.

Aamir Khan is close to a genius, IMO. His comic timing cannot be denied. I know I miss a lot due to not knowing Hindi.

However, Aamir making good films does not translate to SRK making bad ones. There is no logic in that.

Cheers!

Aamir khan is crap. SRK is the real superstar. And who says Aamir Khan movies are great? It's only uneducated Indian people and Aamir fans who get orgasm watching it.

Just returned from watching Interstellar[Christopher Nolan]. Watched The Judge[2014] a few days back. I kept counting the years Bollywood will take, if ever, to produce movies of that magnitude.
You want family drama? One that encompasses family bonding and love? You have the most recent, The Judge[2014] You want a family drama in Bollywood? Lo behold the epic movie DDLJ or KKHH, lol.
Maybe you appreciate sci-fi. You have Interstellar, Aliens series, Independence Day, Star Trek, Avataar, etc. Bwood... mmm.... I dunno, name a few please.
Do we seek movies of other genres other than the romcoms in Bwood? You get either Naagin, Or Teri Meherbaniyan or Entertainment.

what a *beep* movie............nothing more to say,..

reply

Time and time I see this. People going on to the forums of IMDB of Bollywood movies and have nothing more productive to say that "this movie was *beep* maaaaaan".

Firstly Indian movies, unlike Hollywood, aren't meant to be taken seriously and are literally for ENTERTAINMENT. They don't try to be anything more than that. Sure as hell they aren't going to win oscars - but guess what guys?! They don't fecking aim to.
Get an Oscar, or any other such useless stamp of "honour" is an American thing.

Secondly if you didn't like a movie why did you bother turning on your computer, logging onto IMDB and posting "this movie sucks maaaaaan"? Generally people don't waste time on things they don't like. Clearly you guys have nothing better to do.

Seriously. Suck it up, get your head out of your asses and stay clinging to the bosom which feeds you top-rate American movies

reply

why r u talking about Hollywood...Hollywood is on another level compared to Bollywood. Indian movies, like you pointed out are always about Entertainment...haven't we got enough of those ENTERTAINING movies already??? The only thoughtful and artistic "mainstream" release that has come in recent times is undoubtedly "Haider". Now that movie was a breath of fresh air, wouldn't you agree? Everybody has different tastes...and m sorry if we differ in that. You also see to undermine the value of Oscars..u see, which director/producer/actor wouldn't dream of getting their hands on an oscar for once at least...it's a REALLY big thing...not simply a "useless stamp of honour"...

Secondly, my post, short while it may be, were my true feelings towards this movie, which must clearly have intimidated you..but i don't see why you would reply to my post, you would simply have ignored it...coz clearly, it seems u have better things to do with your time...

Stop judging Bollywood keeping "Happy New Year" as the benchmark. First go and watch films like Queen, Haider, Aankon Dekhi, Mardaani, Rang Rasiya, Ekkees Toppon Ki Salaami, Identity Card, Finding Fanny, Amit Sahni Ki List, City Lights, Children of War (all 2014 films) before passing comments like Indian movies aren't meant to be taken seriously. And speaking of Hollywood, for every Interstellar there is a Sex Tape. For every Gravity there is a Scary Movie 5. For every Hunger Games there is a Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. Get the gist?
