Very tolerable indeed

I watched this movie with least expectations and it didn't turned out as bad as I expected. It is a very watchable entertainer. Movie did lost its way in second half but it became good in last half hour. 180 minutes was a very big runtime, they could have easily cut it to 30-40 minutes but they wasted lots of there energy in stupid scenes associated mostly with SRK. On a whole, it is a way too good masala flick if we compare it to Dhoom or Kick.

6/10

Whoops.
I just made similar vote.
6/10.
all was for the casts.
In directorial thingy, I'd like to say, Happy New Year is good, much better than her (Farah Khan) previous movies.
Stardom. Shahrukh isn't there. Really man. It's like he is not an actor in this movie, it's like he is directed all his crew. He told everyone what they should do.
Stories. Not that good. Quite easy to guess what's next, and so on. And details. It will be good if they put in details, because the story itself put the situation like that.
Especially when Mohini didn't know at all about the heist, she just want to dance all over competition. If they put some details in that part, would be more enchanting for the movie itself.
The saver of the movie is Abhisekh and Vivaan. I found Deepika great, but I just made a good credit to those two. In first I thought I will give it to Sonu Sood, but it turned that Abhi deserve more credit.

-Meh!-

I hated the fact that they underused Sonu Sood in second half. His character was hell funny in first half and they could have used his madness in second half by beating up some villains.
And also for me SRK failed big time. Those abs and action sequences were stupid and boring. Abhishek saved this movie for me.

We have same point of view.
I haven't thought about Sonu being underused in post half. I was thinking Sonu will be scene stealer, but as for me he is just another supporting role.

To addition, yes, this is Shahrukh big failure, but let it be, because it is under his production house. Even my self can't feel his present in movie. He is just directing the other casts, on celluloid.

You actually think that Abhishek 'I can't act to save my life' and Vivaan 'Do you know who my father is' Shah SAVED the movie?!! Congrats, you have no credibility whatsoever! I do agree that Sonu Sood was great and deserved more screen-time.

HNY is purely a comedy, so not really in the same category as Dhoom and Kick (actual masalas). But I agree HNY was fun and definitely watchable. I think this movie is getting a lot of undeserved hate.
