very misleading

the scene with him and his boys running through the corn with Haz mat suits was completely misleading and false representation of how the "pesticide" in the corn works.

The corn is crossed/modified abd contains genes from bacteria/fungus which contains an enzyme that makes it indigestible to insects thus when an insect eats it, it dies... its not a chemical poison, and it is not any type of chemical or substance that harms human.

I see how and why people are worried about GMO's but that was completely misleading and very irresponsible way of discussing the issue.

Pb60, are you trying to say that this food was just as indigestible to humans as it is to insects? Are you saying that anything that kills insects will also kill humans?

Is salt poisonous? Coz if you drop some into your food you'll find that it affects you in a very different way to how it affects the average slug...

I never wrote that or implied that... I've only quoted the OP.

and yes i know, you can kill bacteria with salt by creating an hyper osmotic environment for them, you can do that with sugar as well. And no, salt won't kill you that way. But long-term use of high salt intake is bad for you though, by increasing your blood pressure. As you probably know, High blood pressure is a strong risk factor for many diseases, such as cardiovascular diseases....

So in the same way, maybe your poison for insects may not kill humans acutely, but there are no data of the effect that long term use of this poison (that we ingest 3 times a day) may have on humans health.

Take the exemple of cigarette, doctors used to tell their patients it was ok to smoke. Well look where we are right now with the tobacco industry....

Monsanto could very well be the "new tobacco company" of our generation.
