Why in the world did they show Shibuya and then switch to Bangkok

It was a bit too obvious when you have a shopping mall called Nihonmachi... why even bother pretending it's Japan with all the Thai words scattered across every scene and 2nd language speaking actors?? I have no problem with them having a Ninjitsu School setup in Thailand, but pretending it's Japan is pushing it.
