None of the Madoka Magica boards ever have any posts on them. I can't find any forums anywhere else that discuss it either.

Probably because most anime watchers gather to more anime focused sites like Anime News Network or My Anime List there's plenty of discussion there.

Well, Madoka did wish for all witches and despair to disappear, so maybe that also covered trolls on IMDB message boards :D

Without trolls, no one will bother to discuss how awesome the series and movies are...

I've come to this conclusion about Japanese Anime series. They are like dreams. They can be really cool, keep your attention and amuse you, but they only make sense while you are watching them. Once the show is over, it makes absolutely no sense and you will feel foolish trying to discuss it with anyone.
"I saw this awesome anime show where these girls get magic powers from this alien pokemon named Kuybay and they fight witches, which are really other magical girls who went bad, that nobody else can see in order to take the witch seed to purify their souls which they carry around in lockets." ...... "What? Did you smoke the whole bag of weed last night?"
