Minority casting

Before I see it and probably hate it I will have to commend the SYFy Channel for an unusually high percentage of minorities in the main cast. Of the half dozen or so main cast, only one is a white guy. The rest are African American men, white females, and Wes Studi, whatever the Hell he is. And in case anyone is wondering I'm a fat, just past middle age, conservative, white guy and not some goofy liberal, affirmative action type but when the SyFy Channel on it's rare occasion does something right I have to say so.

Thought the same thing. Hudson, Bill Duke and Wes Studi are prime time actors. Of course having an African-American doing the casting probably helped too. Watched the movie for the actors cause the story and effects were from hunger.

Wes Studi is a Cherokee from Oklahoma.

There is nothing good about selecting actors for their race, that is simply racism. It was stupid to have an ignorant blockhead of a general, who just happened to be black, along with a black president with all the presence, intelligence and charisma of a dead fish. Both castings were appalling. But then this was an appalling film, with almost no good features, other than the number of Americans who get killed.

Having to see 95% majority white actors in all roles, be they characters that are Native American, Asian or other POC, since the inception of films? That's REAL racism. But somehow all of the Anglos seem to think that is okay, however.

I just saw it, and I kept talking to the screen, asking, “How the hell did this asshole make General? How many guys did he blow? ‘Cause he’s got the IQ of an eraser.” Also, I love Bill Duke, and we HAVE had some stupid Presidents (cough *Ronald Reagan* cough), but THIS guy wasn’t too sure what number comes after 6.
