Mork + Mindy ripoff

I'm sorry but to me this show is a complete ripoff of Mork & Mindy, only 2 differences is Mork & Mindy was actually funny and Robin Williams is actually a funny guy while this show makes me want to punch the nickelodeon execs who thought this show was a good idea.

The only 2 similarities are they are both sitcoms and they are both about an alien coming to earth.

Other than that, I don't really see it, just because this is probably the worst show ever does not mean they are ripping someone off, it's not really a far fetched idea, pretty basic and bland.

Mork was SMART too! even if he didn't understand something, he was clever enough to catch on more quickly! i would have told Marvin to get lost and go find another family to be a burden too! Victory is a great foil to Lucas, but he NEEDS smarter material! they both do, even if her material is the best written on the show!

Rise.

I thought the exact same thing when I saw the commercial. Take some Jim Carrey physical humor and combine it with Mork & Mindy and you have this show. Why can't anyone come up with original ideas?

reply

Cuz there are none. They're looking at what worked great in the past and redoing it for todays audiences...unfortunately it's not working.

It seems like at this point in time, Nick execs are trying to get away from the usual teen, and music shows....except of course for BTR. By what I heard they're trying to do sitcom style shows, even with weird premises like Marvin Marvin. We already have that Scott Biao show and of course Wendle and Vinnie. The next show like this is obviously Sam and Cat which is basically a modern day Laverne and Shirley for teen girls.

And Mork & Mindy was a rip off of "My Favorite Martian" a 1963 show with Bill Bixby (Earthling) and Ray Walston (Martian)

Everything is a ripoff of something. EV-ER-Y-THING.
