Asking, "Are you gay?"
He never responds. Personally I don't think his sexuality is anyone's business but his own.
It's definitely not appropriate. If he's straight, he'd probably be offended.
"I do love a civil war. You know, these wars today are so rude and ill mannered."
I jumped in before Lucas could respond and told the guy to mind his own business, that his sexuality wasn't an open book for the world to read.
