Kristen Stewart - Color me surprised!

I finally watched this wonderful film, and was really pleasantly surprised by Kristen's performance! This was the first film I've seen her in since she starred in the Twilight franchise, where she didn't rely on all of her normal 'tics' to get her through the movie. She was quite nuanced, while still playing a version of herself (which, truthfully, the character of Valentine kind of was).

I can really appreciate her performance, and think she's finally maturing as an actress. And, let's face it, she can now pick and choose the roles she wants. Hopefully this is just a sampling of things to come from Kristen.

I tried to like K Stewart in this, I just can't past her wooden acting. Its obvious that she's trying very hard, so I commend her. Studios are bending over backwards to get her Oscar bait roles.

At the end of the day, some actors have "it", some don't and never will. She doesn't have it. That's not to say that she can't have a nice career, but she's never going to be a top tier actress.

Your opinions are your opinions.... and no one can talk you out of them. We each like what we like, and dislike what we dislike.

But...

You think Sils is an Oscar bait movie? Why would the studios bend over backwards to get her an Oscar? Is she under contract to a studio?

I think there's nothing wooden about her acting in Sils. It's very low key and naturalistic. Binoche has the showy part.

I've never seen any of KS's other work, but I admire her. She was made filthy rich by the Twilight franchise and now she's stretching herself by acting in foreign, arthouse and low budget movies. And.....

She's only in her mid-twenties.

She was also very good in "Still Alice."

She gets a bad rep from Twilight but is quite good in other things imo.
This, Adventureland, The Runaways, Panic Room, her small part in On The Road.

This is the only film I've seen her in that I actually thought she was okay—not phenomenal, but at least serviceable. Every other one of her performances I've seen is not just wooden, but utterly bizarre.

I might be in minority here but I think she was always good.
Starring in Twilight got her bad rep and that's just not fair.

Thumbs Up, Thumbs Down and a Wagging Finger of Shame

Kristen is trash in every thing. From Twilight anf Snow White and the Woodsmen to Ask Alice, same resting bish face in all her movies and one note. She's probably good in this because the character calls for her to be one dimensional. Nuanced my behind. This girl should not have a career.

I am with you. I think she was fine in this role. As the new assistant came, she didn't have the answers that Val had when answering questions. I don't know why people hate her so much. The Twilight series is what gave her a role where she was noticed. All the haters say she was terrible...then why did they make so much money when the movies came out? I have liked her in everything I have seen her in. Hope to see her in more.
