Anyone get a little choked up?

It wasn't overly manipulative like a lot of those Pixar flicks that lay it on really thick, but SPOILERS!!!!! when the little red headed girl told Charile Brown why she picked him I was so happy for him. I actually got teary eyed. Also, another really touching moment was Charlie Brown having Sally's back during the talent show.

What scenes, if any, did it for you?

I didn’t get choked up mind you, but I was reminded right away of Donna Wold, the inspiration for the Little Red-Haired Girl.

That simple scene seemed to me almost a call-back to Linus' explanation of Christmas.

Charlie Brown sticking up for Sally at the talent show was my favorite touching moment. I also loved Snoopy offering Charlie Brown the last cupcake after the dance disaster, and his face when CB turned it down.

Milo, I've told you again and again - please, don't walk on the chickens!

I cried like a baby on all three of those moments-the Little Red Haired Girl, Snoopy and the cupcake and Sally at the talent show. Such a great movie with such a great, old fashioned, yet timeless message. I loved every minute of it!

reply

I totally teared up as well.

Uh, something having an emotional moment doesn't make it "manipulative".

Patch Adams is manipulative The first 10 minutes of Up is real and true to life, which is what makes it bittersweet.

reply

Uh, I disagree. And I thought "Up" was schmaltzy.

These scenes marred the Peanuts Universe...it is supposed to be much more melancholy...that was the allure of the comic.

reply

Yeah I totally did lol. This whole movie made me tear up simply due to how wholesome it was. And I actually shed a tear or two during the talent show scene just because it was so sweet.

No one has mentioned the scene that made me cry like a baby...

When my cousin and I were kids in the 1970s, we loved Peanuts, watched all the specials, read the paperbacks and even tried to draw the characters (with limited success).

A couple years ago, my cousin died suddenly at age 49. She was like my sister since we grew up together.

I love The Peanuts Movie, and the scene that does me in is where Snoopy is on his cross-country way back from his battle with the Red Baron. Woodstock is sad and alone when Snooy appears running toward him from over the hill and they embrace.

I am Woodstock from that scene, and I'm still waiting for Snoopy.

I can't keep it together every time I watch.
