Saddest line ever in a movie

"She's something and I'm nothing."

"For a nothing, Charlie Brown, you're really something!"

Yes great way to put down the podgy, unpopular, depressed and lonely kids in the audience... Here's the message kids, the popular good looking girl won't go out with you, or look in your direction...

reply

Did you stay 'til the end?

reply

I know you're talking to someone else but yes ,I stayed. 

To another person.

As for 'She's something and I'm nothing' ,it's not a put-down of unpopular 7 maybe not 'yet' attractive kids. it's an honest feeling and/or emotion many boys (and girls just change the words) have felt bout themselves at a young age,

The TV series "Everybody Loves Raymond" ,pretty much screams that idea. Ray Barone (a former nerd and lonely teen) has married a once popular and beautiful cheerleader Debra Whelan.

Ray (the character) is likely the type
that would say "She's something and I'm nothing."

If the movie does anything, at the end, it shows
those kids that, they 'don't" have to feel that way. 

Go for it or just be a gopher!

pretty sure charlie isn't podgy his got the same body as every character, his got a generic 'peanuts' body, I wouldn't say his UNpopular, his probably from a small town and they love him, his just got low-self esteem. So i doubt the kids in the audience would get that vibe

don't blame this cartoon blame western society and culture eg. diary of a whimpy kid trailer shows a bigger popular boy with his arm around a girl like he owned her or the old brother picks on the little brother like garbage when most ethnic cultures like asians TEACH morals and for family to love one another

I mean seriously getting bullied is bad enough as is, but from a family member? a older sibling, a person who should be protecting you from the dangers of the outside world?

so much sex and corruption and bad morals and teachings of young dating amongst kids, even in dr house M.D the young teen boy says you must stick your tongue in a girls mouth like you're painting her teeth, or kids should go on dates with the rewrite of a classic "cheaper by the dozen" (sequel)

sure some writers say the unpopular kid can get the good looking girl but they must sellout there morals eg "how i met your moth" a fat shorter boy has a really hot taller girlfriend

how? well the girl didn't bring her homework or some crap like that so he set the firealarm off

first a hot girl won't just give into "oh he helped me once so i like you" garbage, also a false fire alarm is dangerous and expensive, someone has to pay for such a thing, also why wouldn't he get expelled for that?

So i DISAGREE this sends a message that the popular good looking girl won't get out with you or look into your direction, because she was never popular, the script got the balance well so she BLENDED in with everyone else, she didn't sit with the arrogant cool kids, she sat with the other female characters and was sweet

OTHER movies teach worse stuff, you should be mad at that instead

He may have the same body type but lets also consider he's a child with male pattern baldness.

It's a line that perfectly captures the pathos that was the core of Peanuts since day one.

I know. It's especially so because of the look on his face when he says it.

They've got cars big as bars, they've got rivers of gold

I actually thought the lines where he was being optimistic were sadder. It's just kind of heartbreaking to listen to him when you know the world's going to screw him over really soon.

You should see more Peanuts show and movies. There's lots of sad moments/lines.
