What happened to Muffet?

Was she institutionalized? Was she put away for being inconvenient? I did not understand that part of the film at all. I do love her paintings though!

Ah ... you post is so recent, you must have just watched the film, probably on Netflix, too.

My impression is that the father had found Muffet a situation. Probably she was on disability but living in the home of someone, possibly a caregiver as the woman's protectiveness toward Muffet made her sound. I think Muffet was too fragile to go out in public much as was suggested by her not being at the opening of the coffee house that the display of her paintings honored.

P.S. If you liked this one, you might also like Dad's in Heaven with Nixon which has some parallels and also features an artist. :)

I was irritated at how Mariel's oldest daughter criticized her for not visiting with Muffet enough. So my question is why doesn't the oldest daughter support Mariel and Muffet by taking an interest in and forming a bond with Muffet? Talk is cheap.
