Better late than never!

My mother and I always said how much Kevin Kline looked like Errol Flynn - too bad he had to wait so long to play him as an older man. He should do a great job, though.

I certainly agree with you there. I have noticed the resemblance between the two men, too.

I agree but even though Kline is 15 years older than Flyn was when he died the the resembalnce is still striking especially given that Flynn wasn't at his best by the late 1950s.

Here is a YouTube clip of Errol Flynn on the TV show "What's My Line?" from about the time this film will be set (c.1957-1958) when he is behaving rather eratically:

Loved seeing that clip! I should mention that back then the "mystery celebrity" guest often acted or spoke in a weird way so as not to give away who they were. Errol had a pretty distinctive voice as Bennett Cerf noticed after only one line that Errol said almost normally. It was enough for Bennett to identify him.

Amazing how much Kevin Kline resembles him though and I agree that it's too bad he didn't get to play him at an earlier point in his career.

Even the darkest night will end, and the sun will rise!

In the Pirates of Penzance, Kevin Kline is kind of channeling Errol Flynn. I thought he was perfect for this role, and can't think of anyone else who could have done it.
