Swept under the rug?

What happened to this movie? It didn't gain any attention whatsoever.

It was showed briefly as a limited release last fall. Saw it on Amazon. Could not wait to rent it and bought it.

Are there xtras on the dvd-like the making of?

Just watched the DVD - no extras.

However, I also read the book and can recommend it as a fuller telling of this story if you want to know more. The film is scrupulously accurate with respect to the book account, which is kind of rare these days.

This was my second viewing and while I liked it, I wonder if it could have been edited better. I would like to try intercutting the stuff after Errol's death with the time that he was still alive such that the film ends with his dramatic death and so the film doesn't have that long anti-climax afterward. Because Flynn is the main reason for the interest in this film, I believe. What he was like offscreen, how he did what he did and got away with it, and so on. It's not the story of the mother and the daughter, or if it is, it wasn't presented in a way that we could really feel attached to that story.

It may have been - like Dakota's other recent release - contested legally by the estate of Flynn.

It's subject was a bit controversial...

bump

Oskars problem with Eli is not her ambiguous gender, but her ambiguous humanity.
