Frankly, she could have charged him with rape ...

...after that "first date."

Honestly, as much as I respect S Sarandon as an actress, it was would-see's mom that made her look bad.

Yes and not just statutory rape.

This is the problem with the modern-day "feminist" re-interpretation of everything. Flynn's relationship with Beverly Adland WAS inappropriate, but having sex with a 15 year old who looks 20 and has an ID that says she's 18 is simply not "pedophilia" any way you slice it.

And while "feminists" like to call what Flynn did rape, it certainly wasn't appropriate, but it simply doesn't belong in the same category as someone putting a knife to a woman's throat, dragging her into an alley, violently penetrating her in every orifice, beating her, and leaving her for dead. Sexual encounters frequently involve one person being more into it than the other, but if the person who doesn't really want to still goes along with it with hardly a word of protest, well, do you REALLY want to parole the alley rapist so you have space in prison for the other guy? You also don't usually fall in love with someone who rapes you.

My point is calling practically everything "pedophilia" and "rape" to make a "feminist" point kind of trivializes the evil involved rape and pedophilia.

Look at that sex scene again. It is very disturbing. I did not use the word pedophelia- There is another term. Hebephelia- adults ( at least 5 years older I believe) who are attracted to under age teens and act on it. He abused her. No way out of that one, buddy. The legal system would have hung him out to dry if they had a chance.

Please don't assume you know where my thoughts come from. I don't assume where your anger come from nor do I want to know.

It was his lawyer who warned him. He had already gotten off once on 2 statutory rape charges in 1942. It was well known for his preference for under-aged girls. But you are right. She had a fake ID and no one was complaining. So, it only became an issue when he died. He managed to dodge that bullet but poor Beverly suffered for it.

She "suffered" through a relationship she clearly wanted to have..

You use the word "feminist" a little too frequently, and I might add, somewhat inappropriately.

I don't understand the original post about Susan Sarandon's acting?

reply

Not her acting, the behavior of her character.
