Isn't Kline a little too old to be playing Errol Flynn?

Flynn was 50 when he died and Kline was like 66 while filming this, so...

yet he looks younger than Flynn did in the last years of his life

reply

True! It is just unbelievable how physically ruined Flynn was at relatively young age. I mean, Brad Pitt is 50, isn't he?

That was less distracting than Susan Sarandon playing a woman with a 15 year old daughter (a kid her character had with a man she met in high school and married soon after).
She's almost 70. Still a smoking hot woman....but almost 70.

I thought they all pulled it off very well. If you saw the picture of the real life mother at the end, Susan looked much younger than she. Both she and Flynn were alcoholics and looked terrible for their ages. I think people in general looked older back then. Kline really was perfect casting looks wise, despite his age. If you google him and Beverly you will see how perfect the casting was.

have you seen the pictures of the real mother? susan looks much younger than she did.

reply

No, but Fanning is too old to play a 15 year old.

Oskars problem with Eli is not her ambiguous gender, but her ambiguous humanity.

considering how my experience of having had many classmates, girls, and they all filled out by the time they were 15,and seeing them at 18(her age during filming)now in their mid20s still all look the same, minus slight deepening of fine lines for some. Especially nowadays where the statistical average for physical maturity and filling out in breasts, hips, thighs, ass etc is ~14 years of age, not ~18 as it was in the 19th century for many reasons, not least of which are the current ostrygen-mimicking addtivies/elements in cholesterol, in food, drinks, the air,the tapwater(which gets into the body via washing),make-up,putterware,clothing fabrics, hair products, facial creams etc. Dakota filmed Runaways when she was barely 15,and she looks the same in this film, and now at 21 too. Women don't really change from age 15 to 25 unless they destroy their bodies and n ervous system with lots of stress, booze, drugs, smoking, lack of enough sleep for years, unhealty eating habits etc.

Accidental Double Post.

Oskars problem with Eli is not her ambiguous gender, but her ambiguous humanity.

Kevin Kline, at some point, NEEDED to play Flynn. He looks just like him
