Have to agree with you, very entertaining movie. I even got a slight vibe, so slight, of Brent Butt's character channeling some Bob and Doug McKenzie, hehe.
shareI quite liked it. I'm not sure I would choose the word 'brilliant', but I was wishing it would go on a little longer. Or hoping that they do a sequel. I have loved Corner Gas for years. It's a hard show to explain to people -- that is, it's hard to explain what is so enjoyable about it. I was disappointed by Hiccups. I'm really looking forward to the Corner Gas movie. My guess is that if you get Corner Gas, you'll probably find this enjoyable. If Corner Gas leaves you mystified, I'd give this one a pass.
I could seriously see Butt doing this character as a series.
As a note, I think there is something very Zen-like about Corner Gas. Brent Butt seems to embody the philosophy of The Tao of Pooh. People who enjoy his work I think are responding to the simplicity and joy. In a stressful, increasingly violent world, people are craving this type of energy.
