The Misfits offered him their vocalist spot?

Out of all the trivia in this film, I was most amazed to learn that the Misfits offered Thor their vacant vocalist slot back in the day (I presume it was when Glenn Danzig split on them circa 1983-84).

I'm kinda bummed that Thor didn't take'em up on their offer because let's face it, a Thor-fronted Misfits would've been awesomeness defined!!

Yeah perhaps the timing was just wrong. If it had happened it couldn't have been much worse than the way things ended up going down. Jerry Only's name was on the note, revealing he wasn't looking to replace Danzig, but I guess he stepped up to keep the band going. Only is a good guy but I don't think he had the kind of rambunctious horror punk spirit to lead the band on like the way Danzig did or the way Thor did on his own.

And be sides... it looked like things were starting to happen for Thor. He had "B" movie deals and things were starting to pop on the Thor scene.

All the things we know today, yeah, he should have taken it....

Just saw this film, really liked it. Was/am a big fan of this style of music, and love the books, documentaries, etc. Had only a passing familiarity with the name 'Thor' and associated the act with 'Manowar' and that 'Muscle Rock' gimmick. Stranger things have happened, Ratt started promoting themselves on the Sunset Strip scene as "fashion rock" in order to get girls to come to the show ("because girls love fashion!" - Steven Pearcy)

Anyway, the correspondence signed by Jerry Only was a memorandum of understanding that Thor would try out for the Misfits with the understanding that a successful audition would lead to negotiations for a position in the band. A cool piece of paper to have, for sure, but it was written professionally in order for Thor's management to see that it was serious and to be able to present it to Thor (the Misfits and Jerry Only did not know that Thor was the alter-ego manager).
