Why do people like 'A Ride in the Park?'

It's insanely boring. There's no creativity, which is made all the worse by virtue of zombies being oversaturated right now. Even the "zombie's perspective" thing has been done. Please explain why this segment doesn't suck.

reply

Agreed.

It was a little funny the first time only because of the two bikers and the wife eating her husband but overall it was baaaad.

reply

I actually liked it, but perhaps because I haven't seen a 'zombie perspective' film, so that made it new to me. Also the idea ended at the right spot, since you really couldn't go any further with it.

Now, the 'Inept Alien Abductors' one, just, ugh. You can travel across the universe but run around like the Keystone Cops trying to grab 3 kids, a girl, and their dog. Really? This is the best your race can muster?

reply

If you thought the zombie perspective was cool, check out Wasting Away. The whole movie is zombie perspective, but I'll warn you that the movie sucks.

reply

Something doesn't have to be original to be good... Think of all the slasher classics that would suck by those standards.

Couldn't agree more. Would be nice to see more of zombie POV movies.

...a little fantastic, and fleeting, and out of reach.

reply

Only other zombie perspective film I can think of offhand is "Colin". Now THAT was "insanely boring". I actually got bored with the sound of screams in that one.

"A Ride In The Park" was very well set-up and there were some really interesting touches. The infected girl who comes back to feast on the intestines of her boyfriend was a neat touch. And the bit where our protagonist is actually run over with a car seemed really well executed.

reply

The movie is so full of gratuitous nudity I fully expected the top heavy girl to have her lime green shirt torn off and walking around topless eating people.

...a little fantastic, and fleeting, and out of reach.

reply

2 pairs of boobs and one penis is "full of gratuitous nudity" to you?

reply

I agree. It was *beep* No suspense whatsoever and ending was boring. Didnt tie up any loose ends like what happened to the hordes of zombies. At least the alien abduction was refreshing.

reply

That wasn't a loose end that needed tying. It wasn't about the hordes of zombies. By your logic, you should hate the alien abduction segment for not explaining where the aliens came from.

reply

I liked it and found it fun because it was from the point of view of the zombie - something I don't remember seeing before.

I liked "A Ride in the Park" more than the others for a few reasons.

1.) It was nice to see something in daytime in a horror view. Horror is always dark and hard to see - this was broad daylight. No hiding in shadows.

2.) I'm a mountain biker, so there's inherent humor and appreciation.

3.) I liked the zombie POV thing and the part where he was hit by the car.

4.) The ending was cool; a good zombie story often includes that last shred of remembering who you were, and in that moment, he offed himself to save Amy. Awwww.

5.) When he DID off himself, the fact that the helmet went flying through the air was kind of hilarious.

I loved it when it was already called 28 Days Later. That entire segment was not scary, it just felt like a parody.

reply

Not my favourite piece of celluloid either. But the zombie getting its head bludgeoned by a baseball bat and then barbecuing its own hand made me chuckle.

reply

That was actually my favourite segment in this film, until I watched again and it made me almost sick. I forgot how graphic it was ha ha.
