He's Anti-Gun

Trashes the 2nd Amendment, screw him, I refuse to see his movies after learning that!

Liam Neeson Speaks Out On Guns: His Opinion May Surprise You

reply

Why are you bothered by his opinion if he's not an American?

reply

Neeson is an American citizen.

reply

Neeson is an American citizen.
At first, I was skeptical of this, but I looked it up and according to the NY Daily News, this is correct.

BTW, I disagree with Neeson on guns, and feel that it is somewhat hypocritical for an advocate of strict gun-laws to glorify them so much in his films.

I don't agree with Richard Dean Anderson on guns either, but admire that he stays as true to his beliefs as he can when he works, carrying guns as little as he can. I don't see Mr. Anderson as a hypocrite.

reply

I read his remarks. Not a single point can I disagree with -- and I'm a gun owner.

Which makes you a Fudd, i.e., even worse than standard anti-gunners.

So what? I am a gun-owner as well, and I vehemently disagree with what he said. I don't feel that my gun ownership rights should be held hostage to someone else's misuse of them.

If Mr. Neeson feels as strongly as he does about guns, then he should stop glorifying their use in his films. He is a big enough name in Hollywood that he can choose scripts that don't have gunplay in them.

reply

You're an idiot.

reply

I disagree with his views. (The black market, which just get guns too these people, just like drug laws don't stop drugs being obtained) But, it's a movie, he doing for a living. He's not owning a gun, he's not shooting people for real. So, who cares.

reply

Not will I. He's a typical Hollywood liberal. They live in the world of make believe for so long they think everything in life follows a script.

I love how you refer to the SECOND Amendment, but apparently don't give a damn about the FIRST Amendment. He has a right to freedom of speech and any opinions he desires. I'm sure if our founding fathers thought the right to bear arms was the most essential it would have gotten top billing.

What does the original post have to do with the First Amendment? Nothing whatsoever. No one claimed he doesn't have "a right to freedom of speech and any opinions he desires". The First Amendment contains no guarantee, nor even any suggestion, that everyone will continue to like/support you no matter what you say.

To dumb this down for you: suppose a political candidate whom you support stated that rape should be legalized. Would you continue to support him? And if not, would that mean you "don't give a damn about the FIRST Amendment"?
I'm sure if our founding fathers thought the right to bear arms was the most essential it would have gotten top billing.
Not that it's relevant, but that's not the way it works, airhead.

reply

Nice name-calling. But it was relevant since you seemed so invested in Liam Neeson trashing the Second Amendment. Why does that one stand out to you as so important but the others aren't? Why do you care what a non-American thinks of the American Amendments? Comparing people's thoughts on guns to someone supporting rape shows who the real airhead is. As others have pointed out, more people having guns does not make you safer. Everyone has their hill to die on but the 2nd Amendment tends to bring out the special people out there.

Your non sequitur is dismissed.
Why does that one stand out to you as so important but the others aren't?
This non sequitur of yours is dismissed as well.
Why do you care what a non-American thinks of the American Amendments?
Your red herring is dismissed.
Comparing people's thoughts on guns to someone supporting rape shows who the real airhead is.

As others have pointed out, more people having guns does not make you safer.
Your mere assertion is dismissed.
Everyone has their hill to die on but the 2nd Amendment tends to bring out the special people out there.
This red herring of yours is dismissed as well, and the comical irony of an airhead calling anyone "special" is noted.

Given that you replied with nothing but fallacies (i.e., you presented no actual arguments, nor did you even legitimately address anything I typed), your tacit concession on the matter is noted.

reply

Why do you care so much what his stance on guns are?

His differing view shouldn't affect you this way.

Do you shut out the people in the real world who have different views than you? That's not a very good way to live...unhappy and angry.

His opinion doesn't surprise me at all, it's pretty much the same opinion every other country in the world apart from gun crazy americans.

reply

Tell that to Switzerland.

I would never live in a country that denies the basic human right to self-defense.

reply

Every country in the world has massive stockpiles of guns, the difference is they are all pointed at the populace by the government except in America

reply

Another difference is that in many free, western countries WITH gun control, the percentage of firearm-related deaths is only a fraction of that percentage in the USA. Just look at the pretty league your country is in.

Firearm-related death rate per 1 million inhabitants:

...
...
Uruguay: 140
Mexico: 112
>> USA: 103
Argentina: 101
Montenegro: 86
Paraguay: 82
Nicaragua: 73
...
...
...
Denmark: 13
Italy: 13
Germany: 12
Australia: 8
Spain: 6
Netherlands: 5
Poland: 3
UK: 3

So sorry, no, we don't want to import your frivolous 'right to bear arms'. We'd rather stay safe. It saves us about 90 dead people in every million of citizens.

But if you are keen on having tens of thousands of your citizens and your children get shot and killed every year, go ahead, you apparently prefer it that way.

Yet spare me the stupid pretexts of 'governments pointing guns at the populace'. That's about as idiotic an idea as any brainwashed commie could have ventured. They didn't care for the facts either.

reply

Your examples don´t support your claims: Uruguay, Mexico, Argentina, Paraguay and Nicaragua have strict gun control. On the other side, you forgot to cite Switzerland.

Seems like an apples to oranges case. Criminality and death rate is a much more complex matter than just a gun-control/no-gun-control choice.
