Strange movie (SPOILERS)

I don't really know how much of a spoiler it can be when the thumbnail for the movie shows the fire, but...

Ok, so the whole movie does a good job of setting up that the kid is disturbed and I was ready to believe he'd burn the place down.

But then they made the prom guests such total *beep* and had his father turn on him as well, so that burning them all suddenly doesn't seem like the act of a dangerously disturbed kid, but just the reasonable thing to do. Our sympathies shouldn't lie so totally with the kid imo. He didn't have to be crazy to do what he did. Those people were scum.

It was enough to have them be *beep* and trash the place, without also beating him up. Coupled with his desire to get away and put an end to the motel I would have bought that, and found it a lot more awful. As it stands, I delighted in the screams of his victims probably more than he did. lol
