The Dead Name S4 E2 SPOILERS

This was too convoluted for my taste. First of all, I think Avery was the wrong victim. I would have killed Gary, the blackmailer. But I feel this was just jumping on the transgender bandwagon. Secondly, I had no idea what the purpose of the scene with Courtney and her assistant was. She was obviously successful and had a drawer full of money, so why didn't the check go through? Was she so preoccupied with the blackmail that she forgot to pay her assistant or to see that she had enough money in her account to cover it?

I was misled on the motive at first. I thought that perhaps Avery was going to use another caterer and that Courtney was afraid it would be the killing blow to her business, particularly after her talk with her assistant.

This is not a spoiler per se, but every time I hear the name Officer Kenneki (?), I think of Kenickie from Grease!
