Why is the only DVD set of "Motive" an import from Italy??
Hmm? Why?

you should ask them....why not go to abc, isn't that who airs it in the US...eventually why they don't do a version......
that could be something for them to consider....well if you can go to their site that is..i know that me being here in Canada, I can't...
but that's the tough stuff with all the Canadian shows....they have a huge market over in Europe......as well as here...but since they don't get big in the US....p's me off to no end...we're stuck.....
because of that elephant that lives next door to us
look at some of the series through the years that didn't make it in the US...but they continued on here, and also in Europe......like listener for something recent....
the US...only want brit stuff that they remake...and badly I must say......
Why are you making fun of the U.S. because there are no DVDs of a Canadian tv show? Why doesn't Canada put out DVDs of its own shows? That's a ridiculous criticism. I would love to watch this series from the beginning, but I'm not going to sit here and criticize the country that produces the tv show for not making it available to me. Talk about petty!

Thank you so much for explaining things BLT, I appreciate it! It is very easy for us in the States to forget that things don't operate the same way in other countries as they do here. I can't imagine what it must be like to have another country's culture absolutely everywhere you look, to the detriment of one's own.
Also, Canada produces some darn good tv, I've enjoyed Lost Girl (Kris Holden-Ried, yum!), Holmes on Homes, Property Brothers, and a few other shows on our Home and Garden channel, HGTV. And my husband watches The Transporter tv series based on the movies. And I was a big fan of SCTV, oh that show was so funny! I'm sure I would enjoy many others if they were made available where I live.
Motive is available on Amazon for $1.99 an episode, so I may just go ahead and buy it there. We already get two other pay services as well as cable, but of course it's not on any of those!
Can I interest you in a topical steroid from my lotion and unguent collection?

You're a gem.
So you see how a certain amount of resentment can build up!
I LOVED SCTV, which did so many of the cleverest skits I've ever seen. That team was just brilliant. So many people here talk about Saturday Night Live instead, which I've watched now and then over the years, and was never impressed at all.
Just for the record... Gord Lightfoot may not at the 'top of the charts', but he's currently doing a Canadian tour to sell out crowds.... 😀
shareAs an example, I recently stumbled across a CBC drama called X Company, which involves a team of Canadian spies who parachute behind enemy lines in nazi-occupied Europe. I found it tense, suspenseful, and riveting. It's based on a real centre called X Camp, which was located on the shores of Lake Ontario, during World War II. I'd already missed the first four episodes, because with the CBC's advertising budget of about two dollars, I hadn't heard anything about it. Yet my TV schedule lists pages and PAGES of repulsive garbage like Jerry Springer, or Maury, or Montel, or Judge Judy, or Here Comes Honey Boo Boo..... So how is anyone ever going to notice something local, with no advertising budget to speak of?
I do think Canadian TV is starting to come into its own.
More and more, Canada's programs are starting to creep across the border to lots of acclaim. Shows like Flashpoint, Rookie Blue, and the family-friendly Heartland all found an audience in the USA. Heartland is still going after eight seasons, which is rather unheard-of for hour-long scripted dramas in Canada. And by the looks of things, the American fans of the show are hopping mad that UPtv (the U.S. broadcaster that was carrying it) has chosen not to renew the rights. They're all hoping another broadcaster picks it up for Season 9.
Back in the '80s, the first show to crack U.S. airwaves from Canada would have been a cop drama called Night Heat. That was back in the day Canadian TV was having an identity crisis, and the town the cops resided had to be a generic "Anytown" America instead of Toronto or Vancouver or Calgary, etc.
Skip ahead to the '90s, and CTV gave the world Due South, which lasted eight seconds on CBS (sarcasm). And since it was square Mountie meets street-wise Chicago cop (hee-hee, funny that fish-out-of-water/buddy-cop premise!), the show once again had to pretend Toronto was something other than what it was.
But the new millennium is a new ballgame.
Enter Flashpoint, with its slick production values, great acting and great writing. Canadians no longer had to be ashamed of Canadian TV. And Americans loved it, too, when they got to see it on CBS, and later, ION. It lasted five seasons and ended not because viewership numbers were sinking, but because the producers decided to go out on a creative high. (I'm sure CTV would have dearly loved to keep it on the air.) While this show didn't make a big deal out of being "Canadian", subtle references here and there made one realise "Oh, they're in Canada!". To this day, I see people commenting on Twitter and so forth about how it just dawned on them the show is set in Toronto and not New York or something.
A show like Heartland has found its way into the hearts of people in both Canada and the U.S. (and abroad, too, since it's reportedly shown in 119 countries.) Even though it's based on a series of books by a U.S. author, the series is set firmly in Canada, with references all the time to real-life locations in Alberta. (The characters take trips into Calgary; Canadian currency is shown, etc.)
I have to admit I am really surprised we haven't seen a Canadian release for Motive on DVD yet. Someone's dragging their feet on this one for sure. Maybe the production company just hasn't been able to come to agreeable terms with a North American distributor yet.
Whatever the reasons, I don't doubt there won't be a Region 1 DVD release at some point. Motive is too good and too popular a show not to have a release.
Certa Bonum Certamen

My apologies for overreacting suzan, we Americans can get quite sensitive sometimes - BLT explained things and I understand now where you guys are coming from.

I find DVD boxsets of domestic Canadian shows can be expensive, i.e., a Murdoch Mysteries boxset starts at $50.
shareBummed, I've been trying to find the series here in the States, of course it is only available on the pay channels that I don't have lol! Not on Netflix, HuluPlus or my cable's On-Demand.

I bought season 1 and 2 from Amazon UK
I had no idea there was a 3rd season so will be hunting this down.
The versions I have contain the English speaking episodes as they appeared on US and Canadian TV

...viewers in North America, who don't usually have PAL-format players, will need NTSC format (Region 1) to be able to watch them.
Help me understand, I am an Englishman who loves US and Canadian shows, can somebody tell me where
North America is located, we have South America and we have Canada, does it mean simply the 13 original states,
I notice people point out quite often that they are North Americian as f it is better, is it a class thing, being English we are
Brought up that way, hopefully someone will explain
Thank You 🇬🇧
