In 2008, Madeline was involved in a car accident that almost took her life. She was in a 12-day coma, 21 days on a respirator and broke her femur in 12 places. When she woke up the doctors told her parents that maybe she would never walk again.
3 months in a wheelchair and 2 years later she became Miss Alabama USA and finished 2nd runner-up in the Miss USA competition.
