One of the worst sequel ever made.... :'(

As a big fan of the original movie, I enjoyed the second one too, I was extremely impatient to finally see this 3rd installement. In France, Les Visiteurs is a cult movie !
I can quote it almost entirely.
This new sequel is incredibly bad. It's very boring, very serious (which for a comedy is not a compliment) and the few gags are really crap.
Worst of all it ends on yet another cliffhanger. Problem, the movie will probably flop being THAT bad. So we may never have a conclusion to the story either.
This is worse than my worst expectations. This is in league with Son of the Mask in the "worst comedy sequel of all time". Except that Son of the Mask was made with different actors, different director, screenwriter, etc... Here this is a true sequel with the exact same director/screenwriter/main actors, taking place right after the 2nd movie cliffhanger. So this is way more annoying than an in name only sequel made by random people.

It really wasn't that bad. I thought it was gonna be a joke before going in, I left the theatre slightly surprised.

It is the worst of the three, but the style that made the first two "great" is still there at times, the humor is basically more of the same stuff we were used to, but it was not consistent throughout the movie.

Th lack of "Jean Pierre" as a support character was felt, he was very important to make the jokes work in the previous movies.

Well, when people involved in movies make a sequel almost 20 years later, to a hit movie, it's rarely because they had a great idea. Mostly it's because they want to make easy money and are so desperate for new ideas, they fall back on old hits.

Can you name one of these many recent 20 years later sequels that was even worth watching, let alone half as good as the original?

yeah there is an exception, the before sunrise trilogy (one every ten years, not twenty though)

I too am a fan of the 1st movie. The 2nd was good, but too long (some stuff needed to be edited out).
I haven't seen the 3rd, and will not pay a cinema ticket for it. Maybe I'll catch it when it's on TV.
With comedies, they usually use the best bits in the trailers/teasers.
I saw the trailer and some sneek peaks (on les Enfants de la Télé). I haven't laughed once. I was dumbfounded by how bad it was.
I fell into the "Les Bronzés 3" trap when it came out. I will not fall this time.
BTW, I heard that the film finishes on yet another cliffhanger: they end up in the 40s. If this is true, I'd rather watch Papy Fait de la Resistance. They probably count on the people who will go to the cinemas out of curiosity and/or nostalgia to make their money back. But let's not forget that if the film is a success, they will make another sequel.

It's official, the movie DID flop ! There won't be "Les Visiteurs 4 - Le 3ème Reich".
And yeah it's as bad as the sneek peaks you saw on "les enfants de la télé". The whole movie is like that, unfunny and boring. A real disaster. What a shame !

Visitors 1 and 2 are cult movies probably in whole Europe. I know they are in my country. Revolution is now in theaters, should I give it a try? One and two are at least once a year on our national television so I guess 3rd one will be some day.
