Anything omitted?

I loved watching this as i was not an expert on history and I found it very enlightening, is there anything or anyone from history that you think was important that should of been included but was ignored completely?

I too thought it was truly and thoroughly well executed, depicting important turning points, important periods, characters or aspects in the chronology of human history.

Human history can easily be mistranslated into only rulers, empires and war. This show though, is well balanced between war, technology, art, science, philosophy, spirituality etc.

All mayor religions getting their share of time, perhaps Hinduism and polytheism could have gotten a larger part though. I liked the fact that the show viewed spirituality and religion as a transitional force inspiring and superseding. Perhaps they could have stressed this even more - that such beliefs as Zoroastrianism, among others, had its impact on Judaism, which had an impact on Christianity and later Islam.

All the ancient "important" civilizations got mentioned. However, Babylon, Sumer, Etruscans, Harappan, Hittites, Mycenaeans among others, was not.

But then, when doing a series like this, you have to compromise, you cannot include it all. They could have made it a 10 episode series perhaps, instead of 8.

The Ayoreo indians in the beginning and end was a very intelligent method of envelope human advancements and its achievements.

To add.

Perhaps they could have included more about:

The economic effects by the black plague in Europe.

The Glorious Revolution and its impacts on institutions and modern society.

The crusades, wasn't even mentioned.

The fall of the Roman Empire.

The Byzantine empire.

Cultures such as the ancient Khmer, Aztecs or Maya. Or for that matter any of the Northern Indian tribes.

The Mongol attempt to invade Japan.

Etc. :)
