It's easy to to tune out Jeff Lynne

because of his shlocky stuff you hear in the supermarket every time you're in there, but this show demonstrates just how amazing he is as singer, songwriter, musician, producer, and all-around good guy. Very fascinating footage showing him in action with a few good friends like George Harrison, Roy Orbison, Tom Petty, Ringo Starr (who has the best line in the show, where he jokes that during his interview Jeff Lynne has "probably produced three or four albums by the time I finish talking") Paul McCartney, and Eric Idle (!?!). The most compelling parts were where they showed Jeff Lynne by himself, playing over recordings of his classic songs, especially one scene where he is playing contrapuntal accents on the piano to a song (I forget which one it was) and he sounds like he's off key, but you can hear how it accompanies the main melody very well and that it is a conceptual approach. The final shot is a tracking shot with the camera wandering through Jeff Lynne's beautiful house and sneaking up from behind as he is seen sitting in a chair playing the banjo. Kinda like the final scene from "Hail Hail Rock 'n' Roll" with Chuck Berry, just the man and his instrument.

This is a treat for guitar heads and music fans, and is a very fitting tribute to a truly talented individual.
