Why did Lasse have (SPOILERS)

So why did Lasse have like 50 Jerrycans outside the barn on his farm? This was a big detail that made the police aware that something was strange there. But why so many Jerrycans? It's not like they are disposable single-use containers? Why not have like 2 and refill them when they were empty? It's not like a pressure chamber demands so much electricity that he had to refill the generator several times a day anyway? Seems wierd to me...
