Thumbs up

I have to disagree with the comments so far, I think this sitcom is funny. I love Sue Perkins (having always loved her with Mel on light lunch) I think the structure is good and the storyline is developing over the episodes, the overall tone is good, it acknowledges that here is an audience out there that are older and mature and can have a laugh.

There is no point in comparing it to the likes of 'beast' just because it also features the lead working in a vets. This series isn't about vets but about Sara coming out late in life. I hope it gets a second series because I've grown to love the characters. The series is well cast, especially seeing Dawn French and June Brown in Episode 5. I think it's also wrong to compare this show with Miranda - two different leads two different styles of comedy. I'd rather watch this sitcom than say... lead balloon (it's not funny) or the new sitcom on itv 'plebs' where by the trailers show the series without there being anything remotely funny!! Sue is funny, she deserves this series.

The BBC do not make enough comedy in my opinion, they used to produce lots of classics but now we're in the age where money is spent on executives deciding what we watch rather than actually funding new sitcom projects. I'd even say that money is stupidly spend on Top Gear and certain highly paid Presenters than into giving sitcom writers a chance.

I think its good entertainment and there should be another season - which I would certainly watch.

I was really surprised about how the season ended and that neither the Eve nor the parents situation was resolved - and a bit disappointed, that the gay brother suddenly came out of nowhere.
My overall "issue" with the series however, is Sue. I like her and I have seen most of her TV stuff, thus seeing her play herself again is not that exciting. Her co-stars and guest are far more refreshing - Nicola Walker ("I play apple tanning saloon") and Dominic Coleman are fantastic. Mel was a hoot in the 4th episode, I was so surprised how she pulled off that angry Russian lady - it was priceless!

The only thing I really hate about the show - brace yourself - is the signature tune, which apparently Sue composed herself. It sounds like an intro for an afternoon children's programme. Really annoying.

i want there to be a second series just so sarah can get on with it. she spends the whole time dithering and floundering while her brother pops out of nowhere and beats her to it. the eve storyline is going nowhere either
