What I liked about this....

So I watched the premire of this hour long cartoon movie on Cartoon Network 10/16/12 and didnt expect much. The animation was ok however what I enjoyed being a old school horror fan and all was how this sorta took shots at newer horror movies.

Dracula is so out of touch with today's world. Kids idea of vampires are like the ones they see in Twilight. Halloween costumes are no longer scary with kids dressing up as hotdogs and cowboys. Dracula no longer scares children and is upset over this so Sam agrees to help Dracula become scary again if he helps Sam become more sociable especially towards a girl. The movie does mirror today's teen horror fans who eat up all the lame remakes, PG-13 garbage and sparkling vampires. They do not know of Lugosi or even Christopher Lee. Dracula tries to show that you do not need gore to be scary. Horror is about scares and atmosphere. Sadly alot of today's younger horror fans could care less about either. Gore, while good, doesn't make a movie. The original Halloween and Texas Chainsaw Massacre contained very little gore but were effective. Their remakes however piled on the gore.

Anyways...if this re-airs, give it a look. It's a good hour long Halloween cartoon with a good message towards the new school horror fans.

I just watched it today and I couldn't agree with you more. Although I do love me some good gore it doesn't necessarily guarantee more scares. Plus I too have the skeleton coming out from the ground as a decoration. He's called Napoleon Blownapart and he's the neighborhood favorite. Anywho were you as surprised as I was to hear Ray Liotta as Dracula?
