The Colour Yellow

Was the colour yellow significant to the film? Did Patrick or Mark ever say?

Didn't realize it was such a significant color until you mentioned it. Yellow is usually associated with cowardice and fear (ie yellow-bellied). And fear definitely seems to be Josef's primary motivation. He's constantly scaring Aaron to see the raw fear and adrenaline in his face. He's somehow equated fear with love and companionship in his mind.

It also represents naivete. Actually, "yellow-belly" tends to be an insult against someone's lack of experience. Fear is just usually the symptom that signifies that lack of experience to the one doing the insulting.

That Aaron drove there in a yellow car and ended up succumbing at the end makes sense in a little symobolism-gamey way.
