shows like Crossing Lines?

I just finished watching Crossing Lines a couple days ago. I really enjoyed the first 2 seasons...season 3 felt like a totally different show. I liked the multinational cast, the locations and the premise of investigating cross border crimes. I really enjoy detective shows and this was was very different from the typical US shows (like NCIS, SVU or Bones).

Does anyone know of similar shows? It doesn't even have to be a detective/crime show....just something produced in a country outside the US, possibly with a cast of characters from different countries.

I have now watched one season of this show and two episodes of the Criminal Minds one. I like this one a lot more, if for no other reason what they do seems much more realistic: no luxury cargo plane, just a helicopter. They used actors from their native countries for many of the roles.

What I don't like so far:
The cliche of killing off a good character in the first or second episode. I see that is happening again as of the end of Season 1.
The unstoppable boogeyman type of villains.

From what I've read, the huge cast change in Season 3 is not all that great, however I'll watch and decide.

I also like it being different from the regular brittish/american shows in location and actors. More like home for me. I would recommended Bron if you can find subtitles. There are a lot of great danish shows and I guess a great deal of very good german, frensh and more. The trouble are that not that many are available on the global market with subtitles.

This may not be the right forum for my question. What is the emblem ( red dot) on Donald Sutherland's coat lapel?

reply

I think it might be a Legion of Honor of pin.

Thank you both.

It looks like Bron is on Hulu with English subtitles. I tried "The Protectors", and I'm having a hard time getting into it. I liked Fobrydelsen...but its hard to find with English subtitles.

I've been watching Borgia (the Netflix one), and its also interesting. Similar type of show, since there are actors from many countries and its all in English.

Broadchurch and The Midsomer Murders are good British crimes shows, but I've already seem those. I wasn't able to get into MI-5, but I might try it again at some point.

I was just going to mention Midsomer Murders, my favorite show!

Have you seen Bron/Broen? It's a serialized crime show (one case for season), with a detective from Sweden and another of Denmark.

An obvious suggestion for me would be a Pan-European production of the series - Danish title - MORD UDEN GRÆNSER which translates into Murder across bordes, about international crimes, such as trafficking and of course chasing the criminals across borders, very good show with a 6.9 rating (deserves a little more) check it out

This show, murder across borders, can you find the show in English. Not into having to read sub-titles, they distract me from the show lol..
There's also a show called The Border, it has 3 or 4 seasons, and its pretty good.

reply

No I don't think so - sorry to disappoint you, they mainly speak Danish and German with sub-titles. Maybe you should give it a chance anyway, very good show.

I also like foreign television shows. Netflix has quite a few if you search hard enough and they are always changing. Some British and Canadian titles available now are Happy Valley, Midsommer Murders, Luther, Hinterland and Continuum. A few European subtitled shows are Dicte, Occupied and Siral. I've seen other subtitled shows on Netflix but they aren't there anymore.

I love Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries. It's an Australian show placed in the 1920's.
