Elizabeth Mitchell is such a miscast

I have to say I grew to really dislike her bad acting on Once Upon a Time. She was terrible. She is just as bad on this show. Her frozen face, whispery voice and lack of any emotion is terrible. There are not many actors I cringe when I watch, but she is one of them. This show is missing the spark in season three. I am sad. That Irish guy is terrible too. He has two emotions, smarmy and pissed off. Not good.
The original cast for this show made it. I can see that now. I am still watching it, but bored with it.

she is a brilliant actress! give her a go ! don't base her acting on one tv show where everybody has to be over the top.

reply

I have liked her in other things, years ago. But I am finding her very wooden in Crossing Lines.

reply

I agree. She seems to play everything on one note 😴and I have trouble believing her as a tough kick ass cop. πŸ˜• I think the other new guy is supposed to be English but he's not too believable either. I think we're meant to see him as a James Bond type but seriously I wouldn't hire him to find my cat!😏
Really missing Carl & Tommy!!! πŸ’•

Totally agree! I miss the old crew very much. I did not realize how much the original cast just made this show.

I specially miss Hickman but also major Daniel.

They ever say want happened to the eva character... dead or kidnapped?

I just completed the first two seasons (found scrolling around on Netflix) and am in the middle of Season 3 ep. 1. What a disappointment. William made the show and the entire original cast was wonderful. They were perfect. I may watch the 3rd season but doubt it. Where is Tommy? What happened to Eva? I guess we were supposed to assume she is dead because of the last episode of season 2 when Donald Sutherland sat in the chair in Eva's room with tears in his eyes. But come on...a little more explanation would have been nice without just having everyone I loved leave. Well, except Tom of course. Why do the powers that be always screw things up so royally??? ξ€Ώ

She is a dreadful actress, there's no denying it and I'll admit that I wasn't impressed when I read that she'd been cast. I'll give the new season a go when I get the chance, but I'm not optimistic about seeing it the whole way through.

so bollocks is bad, but dogs bollocks is good?

reply

I like the first season's cast better than three as well. However, the only one I miss is Tommy from the Irish gypsies. And I agree with you, I don't like Elizabeth Mitchell's role in the cast either.

Yes! I came her to see if anybody else thinks that Elizabeth is the huge clanger mistake in casting an otherwise very good new collection of folks, after the old cast went with the exception of Dorn, Sebastian and Arabela.

This actress may have been good before she encompassed her entire face in cement...but now she can't make an expression; only her eyes can emote anything--you can't play an entire series when only your eyelids and chin move! haha

I get distracted in her scenes because she's like the ventriloquist dummy with the wooden face and only the loose chin moves up and down up and down up and down as she talks, with that odd triangle of her upper lip frozen and drooping down over her face in a permanent sour puss type of grimace.

Really scary.

The personna she is trying to emulate is the Pamela Landy character in the Bourne films (played by Joan Allen). The Producers should have just hired Joan Allen.

Season 3 isn't up to the first two, but it's still pretty good. Missing William Fitchner's contributions, however. Somehow, he made you listen intently to every word his character spoke.

Agreed the original cast is best. I just finished season 3 and i enjoyed it better then I thought. The first season was great. The second season was better after second viewing. I do think that she does come off composed and doesn't show much emotions. I hope it gets another season because I would like to see the guy find out what happened to his sister.

Tim Curry my all time favorite actor. Would love to marry Elijah Wood & Karl Urban.

She doesn't play tough or bitchy well, yet they keep casting her as such.

Did the show ever explain what happened to all the missing characters? I can't watch Season 3, it's just a totally different show now and I'm not liking it much with the new cast. Was just wondering if they ever explained where everyone went.

reply

I think they mentioned something, but gosh it was over 18 months between seasons, so who could even remember? I am not going to watch it if it gets renewed. It was a big disappointment.

kinda-sorta. When the ER dude is walking into the ICC building he says he's sorry to hear about Major Daniel and asks about the rest of the team. Arabella says they were disbanded 6 months ago. She tells him they all went home, and mentions Hickman by name. Eva was never mentioned.

Totally agree. Mitchell is awful.

But I still like this show, mainly because of Dorn and Berger.
