Listen: This was A total rip off of...

This was almost A total ripoff of "Cigarette Burns" from the Masters of Horror series starring Norman Reedus. Basically in "CB", IT WAS A philanthropist, that was A movie buff, that needed A P.I (Norman Reedus) to track down A tape that, when watched would make an audience go beserk, and homocidal/Suicidal. This was essentially the same thing, the only difference was the ending, which was another rip off. Only this ripped off "Shadow People", in that the video was virally uploaded, so it could cause national mayhem!

not so much a rip off, but it was definitely along the same trend. it also echoed a kate bush song about another song that killed people, and it also has echoes of the infamous but nonexistent play 'the King in Yellow' which was a play discussed at some length in some of the short stories in the collection "the King in Yellow" by Robert Chambers, written back in 1895.

that doesnt' mean there is any 'rip off' intended, just that the idea has come around again. it is possible that the filmmakers never even heard of the earlier works, but also possible that it may be an indirect homage or an 'inspired by'

similarities in a story structure don't make soemthing a rip off.
