Hmmm...

Not sure what I can say about this.

SPOILERS

Never thought Batman would venture into the occult, but here we are.

It was an interesting take. Not great, but it's watchable. I don't like gross things. The way Harvey looked and Cobblepot looked, such things put me off to no end. I don't like gross looking things.

The animation was good. New voice actor for Bruce/Batman. Was something to get used to. Wish Bruce Greenwood voiced him again.

The monster was disappointing. The story is interesting, but the monster and the threat it posed, and the power it had, did not do it for me. However, I guess it was a way for Batman to venture into religion and the occult, which is always welcome, since I'm fascinated by the occult.

Seeing Etrigan again was nice. I like a Demon who is a good guy. Jack Kirby's creation.

One time watch for me.

How much Batman is in this? The premise says "only Bruce Wayne can save 1920s Gotham City."

reply

He's in the Batsuit a lot.

Thanks. Is this any good? The 6.0/10 IMDb rating is turning me off to it.

Just reviewed it here!

That sounds like a pass for me. I have "The Long Halloween" films downloaded so I'll look forward to that.

I thought TLH was excellent! 👍

Funnily enough I own some Batman comics from 1990 that have a premise dealing with occult like things. There's this man who sold his soul to the Devil hundreds of years before who also happens to be a teacher Bruce Wayne had as a child. Said teacher abused him. Then the man to keep on living has to perform a satanic ritual. Said ritual will take the souls of everyone in Gotham into Hell. Batman is able to stop him and the guy is unable to perform the ritual and immediately dies and goes to Hell. It was pretty freaking weird. I am staying with my parents and then going out of town all of next week to visit my sister who lives a 6 hour drive away. So I can't go to my comic box to find them to tell you the issue number until at least next Saturday.

No problem. Thanks for the information.

Batman: Gothic is the story, written by Grant Morrison (it's available as a trade).

He's dealt with the Occult on many occasions....

Always makes me laugh whenever Batman says 'I don't believe in the supernatural!'. Deadman is a literally a ghost; Etrigan is a freakin' demon; Zatanna, Dr Fate, and John Constantine are all actual magicians, and Wonder Woman and Captain Marvel/Shazam have the powers of the GODS! He might just as well say 'I don't believe in super-powered aliens'.
