Q+A from the Toronto International Film Festival (VIDEO)
Controversial director Catherine Breillat returns with Abuse of Weakness (Abus de faiblesse) her most personal film to date. It serves as both a confessional and a portrayal of how she was roped in by a con man. After suffering a stroke, a director (played by Isabelle Huppert) begins to develop her latest film and becomes enraptured by a famous criminal who begins to take advantage of her need to affection and the presence of another human being.
Breillat, who herself suffered a stroke nearly a decade prior to the film's completion, talks about the inspiration for the production and some of its challenges.
