the ending (spoilers)

can someone please explain the ending to me? was the guy really infected or was she just going crazy and 2nd was she really infected after killing him

reply

I believe those who SAW the black eyes and blood were the infected and the couple was infected through the whole movie. Not sure though.

I thought it was a confusing and boring waste of time that ended with a terribly disappointing payoff.

reply

hmmm maybe you're right. So you think the entire time they were in denial and after killing him she finally saw the truth?

reply

I thought it was a confusing ending, too.

My guess on alot of the plot, maybe he did get killed going out and simply never came back. I think she was either infected or completely went crazy by the end. She was hallucinating for alot of the movie. And maybe her hand wound was really a bite. Or maybe he did come back infected but she was already far gone by then. Very confusing movie.

my take on it is that her guy was never really infected it was just her mind making her think that from being locked up for so long. Ironically, him keeping her in the cabin was a good thing bc it appears she became infected as soon as she walked out the house. Maybe the virus spreads thru open wounds? (her hand) the director has said it interviews that he purposely never stated in the movie how the virus is spread

reply

I think she was driven crazy from being isolated so long and then he came back to the house in infected. Then she became infected when she stabbed him and got his infected blood on her.

reply

I think they both were infected since nether of their behavior makes any sense at all.

But then again we never have a reliable observer to show us what an infected person is and what that implies.

Horrible movie, the idea could work in a 20 minuet short, but it was dragged to over an hour, i kept skipping huge chunks of it.

I think they ran out of money and time just before the script was written, and they went ahead and filmed it anyway. It was truly the worst film I've seen in a long time. And I got Netflix, bucko.

reply

I think no one was infected. I just think the couple went crazy with paranoia, killed their friends and hallucinated everything else.

reply

^^ That's what I believe also. She was obviously crazy, but this movie is open ended so you can draw your own conclusion.

Unfortunately, you can only do this because they never gave us enough info in the film.

reply

I think he came home infected. She was not so crazy that she couldn't see that. She thought she killed him and found out different when she ran outside. She then killed him but was infected herself.

reply

(massive spoiler)

He is not infected. When she uses the clippers on his fingers, he bleeds red. She is insane--that was the point of the entire extended sequence beforehand.

I'm not real confident in my interpretation, but I think the movie is an abstract portrayal of spouse abuse. The two of them were abusive to each other. She saw her husband as the bad guy, but she is just as bad as he is. She didn't come to realize her own abusive behavior until the end of the movie. So the two of them were guilty of being abusive to each other, but each blamed the other for their marriage problems.

Again, I'm reading into the movie quite a bit at this point. I realize my interpretation is on shaky ground at best.
