I watched the 20/20 story and I'm convinced even more it is a hoax
Anyone who still doesn't think this is a hoax needs to watch the 20/20 story that aired last Friday. It leaves little doubt this is a hoax.

shareWatched it, not sure what you mean. Why do you think it makes it seem like a hoax?
shareWhat makes you think this is a hoax? I certainly have questions, but there did appear to be a genuiness when I saw the brothers on 6/20 in LA. Some were reluctant to talk, and a couple of others were basking in their new found fame
shareThe 20/20 story was basically a condensed version of the documentary, so I have no idea how that is supposed to support your theory that it's all a hoax. Here's the 20/20 report https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pzDBXaPPykc

Thanks for the link. I agree: no hoax to be had.
I do think it's funny how biased the angle of the "news" report is...making so many presumptions about good/bad/heroes/villains. Thankfully the filmmaker took a different path. Great film, sad commentary on our cultural absorption from this piece.
I think it's due to editing. They left all the ugly(beating, abuse, unsanitary condition, handicapped sister etc) parts out for sure. Probably request from mom.
shareIf it were a hoax, everyone would deserve an Academy Award for acting.
It's not a hoax. The scene where the one brother talks about the things he can't forget is tragically convincing. There's such fear and a sense of loss in all the boys. They lived this life.
It all does seem kind of weird. A group of impoverished young Latino teenage boys hanging out with a thirty year old middle-class white woman? They are movie aficionados and she just happens to be a film maker! What a coincidence!
