Utterly disappointing

I'd had reasonably high expectations for this film, but found it to be awful beyond belief. Nothing on the level of 'I Saw The Devil' or even 'Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance' (a film I still didn't find to be great). It's a screenplay of half-baked ideas on voyeurism and revenge motives with a ludicrous final act that somehow tops all the garbage that came before it. The performances range from egregious epileptic fits to what could only be described as a teleprompter readout. The story is a bloated, tumorous congregation of the worst genre tropes.

I guess I'd just like to hear from the people that enjoyed it. What did you like about it?

I really enjoyed this film. From start to finish I found the story engaging and thought the character development was good. Both escalating into confident killers. There was nice black comedy moments and good camera work - also lighting in the nightclub scene. Bought it on blu ray and think it was a great addition for my collection. I watched this after seeing the raid 2 another good indonesian film. I know films with subtitles are hard for some people in a way but I dont mind because english dub overs are ridiculous. Overall a very exciting film - pushed my limit of gore/torture level as most horror/acton genre films are predictable and not evil enough to make me think "did I just see that? Cool flick!

Saying this is awful beyond belief is way too much.

It's too long (as Asian films tend to be), and it could do with pruning down to 90/100 minutes.

I think because of this it is uneven. There are five or six memorable sequences, but also many that I couldn't describe to you now, just an hour after watching it.

You may have found it disappointing, but it surely doesn't deserve such criticism. I wavered between 5 and 8 throughout and settled on 6/10.

On a more personal note, I hope never again to see the words 'tropes', 'tumorous' or 'egregious' in a single film review.

Honestly, I have to agree with the OP, I really did find this film to be quite awful. I was considering giving this a 6/10 but after the last act, I settled on a 5/10 and only because I've seen worse films and I know there are worse films than this. But it really is a cliche and yes, it blatantly rips off tropes from many an action, horror, suspense, revenge flicks but they're not coherently blended together. The overacting and unlikable and asinine characters also do not improve upon the film.

Agree. I Saw The Devil *beep* on this. But this had its moments, and I enjoyed a few of the characters. 5 out of 10.

I'm guessing you haven't watched a lot of films. I do and I can say with honesty that this film is better than half of what is out there.
