Very, VERY disappointed with season 3

Why? Why did we need a season 3 of this show?

I was not exactly the biggest fan of season 2, but at least the episode before the last and the finale made it well worth watching and any loose ends were wrapped up perfectly. MMFD DIDN'T need another season - heck, I could argue that it didn't even need a second one, but I'll digress.

I'm very disappointed in the way season 3 is panning out. I understand that mentally unwell people (like myself) have relapses, but what is the point of having Rae relapse ONE episode before the series finale? I can ONLY hope writers don't brush over this latest episode as Rae having a 'wobbly brain' moment that needed half a day of treatment in a psych ward and go on to pretend all is fine next episode. Also, what was the point of almost - but not quite - killing off Chloe? Was it some lame ratings ploy? And what the actual *beep* was that mess with Rae taking exams in Chloe's name? What's up with Kester? What the hell is up with Rae's dad? Are you seriously trying to convince me that someone who's been a dead-beat dad for most of Rae's life is now suddenly having second thoughts about leaving her mother? The guy is such a dick he gave Rae's that LP player her MUM had given HIM as an anniversary present. WHY would someone who acted so cruelly and spitefully just a few weeks/months ago suddenly become so wistful of their past? At this point I'm legitimately only watching for Chloe, Rae's mum, Archie and Karim. Even Izzy and the gap-toothed lad are boring this season and there' not nearly enough Tony-two hate to redeem it. Also; the university side-plot is very lame. Did the writers have to write it out to be so damn convoluted? Do the writers NEED to write Rae as a selfish, self-absorbed and self-centered *beep* up all the time? I was hoping that after the last season finale and all the character growth Rae went through. she'd be written better than someone who'd not only forget her mother's 45th Birthday, but also her cake. I know homegirl has a lot on he plate right now, but *beep* just ain't cutting it.

I really liked the first season, and like you, was much less impressed with the second season.

The quality of the writing just seemed to fall off.

So I've been reluctant to give season 3 a go until other people shared their impressions.

Interesting that there have been few comments, and your initial impressions haven't inspired confidence either.

I know you're not happy with series 3 but
your passing judgement before it's finished.
It may turn out better than you think, but
from what you have said I doubt at this
stage you'll be happy with the end result.

There are two types of ending people want,
for Rae to head off to university and leave
the past behind. The other ending would be
for Rae and Finn to end up together. I
don't think both of these things will happen.
Just have to wait and see.

I'll be honest with you: if you had told me that Kester's speech in the finale would make up for the first four episodes, I wouldn't have believed you. Turns out it did though. The finale really saved season 2. I'm hoping something similar will happen this time around, but I still feel the show has lost that special something.

Series 1 will always be the best but the other 2 weren't that bad either.

I also find that last 2 episodes from second season were very good. Season 3 was very bad.
