The moment I realized I hated Chloe

Possibly the first episode, but maybe it was the second? Rae and Chcloe were sitting on a bench and Chloe said "My sister use to be big, so I know what it's like." Ugh! This instantly made Chloe selfish, narrow minded, and not a good friend. That's the equivalent of saying "I've got black friends, I totally know what it's like being black." I seriously despise her. Not to mention every thing she did after that. What an awful "friend".

Did you finish the 2nd series yet? We find out later on that .... Rae reads Chloe's diary, compares it to her own, and realized that she was seeing situations in her own mind, always making herself (Rae) out to be a victim. But she (& the audience) realizes (through Chloe's journals) that Rae is an 'unreliable narrator' because their stories don't match up, which means the 1st season we saw through Rae's eyes, seeing Chloe being a 'bitch', when in reality she is going through almost the same problems as Rae, except that Rae would seem to always turn the conversation to talk about her own problems, ignoring Chloe's.

Chloe is really the best friend Rae could have. After finishing the series I actually prefer Chloe over Rae.

I'm in the process of reading the real Rae Earl's book (made from her diaries); and my own personal take on the book character Bethany, and to some extent the show's Chloe (Bethany is even a conglomerate of three different people; and perhaps Chloe is a conglomerate of Bethany -- but a lot of the incidents in the series to me felt completely representative of the book) is that each is a real operator/manipulator. There is a strong pattern of Bethany doing what she can to ferret out info from Rae and then sabotage it, especially with boys. And I do not think that the author herself sees "Bethany" this way (although I am only about 70% through the book), but from what the author says, I do.

One thing I like about the series is that I think that the actress who plays Chloe -- as well as most of the rest of the cast -- show a real thread of sympathy and empathy; although they are good-looking and actors and can probably have their pick of people, they do not come across as egotistical or shallow or at all.
