Smoking
I gave up with it after 20 odd minutes, because I was fed up with seeing her and others with cancer sticks in their gobs all of the time! And before you say everyone smoked back in the 80's, let me tell you, no they didn't.
Who cares if they're smoking? It's a film. It's not real. I'm guessing most of the cigarettes in the film weren't real.
I'm guessing you haven't been to Germany? Smoking was massive in the 80s. It still is quite big. Big enough to have the largest number of cigarette vending machines per capita in the world.
Personally, I think smoking is of course, dumb but to not watch a film due to it depicting smoking is nonsensical. What is your reasoning? Are you worried it might make you take up smoking? They're not forcing you to smoke after you watch it.
Who gives a fuck about smoking in Germany, I couldn't give a flying one Fritz. It's a disgusting filthy habit, and for me watching a film with it constantly in my face, is like sitting opposite someone smoking whilst I'm trying to eat a meal.
shareWell, Atomic Blonde is set in Berlin. Which in case you weren't aware, is in Germany. Hence the heavy use of smoking throughout the film. It would be incongruous to not feature smoking.
