Why such a small fan base?

Is it because of the remake-whiners that people got turned off from this?

I also never bothered with this because I read that it wasn't as good as original and so I waited, but decided to give the show a try recently and it was great. It had issues but had some Breaking Bad nostalgia to it and no I'm not saying it was the same quality as BB but it was still a good compelling show, except that Sonya was different in season 2 than season 1 and not in a character development way.

Oh well, another great show cancelled because of numbers.

I think since Hulu streams the original, most fans just switched to that.

Season 1 was almost great. It had major potential. They changed it up too much in Season 2, but I guess that was motivated by the limited success of Season 1.

I'm not really sure why it didn't catch on more. I don't think it being a remake was such a big thing. One thing that wasn't great was that a lot of the TV critics bashed it just because it had a serial killer storyline, which was considered by them to be played out.

I have no idea. This show is so good. Not perfect, but pretty good. I wish FX renewed this.

Too much work for lots of folks. Not enough people who'll spend 1/3 to 1/2 of the series reading subtitles. And these days if you don't capture an audience pretty fast you get pulled. 2 seasons is actually a pretty good run for this series.

When they were hinting at the missing women of Juarez were victims of a corrupt police department and multiple serial killers. That added to the atmosphere of the show.

The Kenneth Hastings character didn't need that much of a story arc. Serial Killers storylines are rarely subversive now a days. They are just so predictable and violence against women is generally done with little awareness from the writers.

The Ratings dropped by the end of season 1 from its 2 million and half audience. Seasons 2 started with 1 million plus viewers.

Season 2 delivered the broader scope and potential for the series but it was too late. FX was more satisfied with shows performances of shows like the strain and Tyrant.

This show and Terriers cancelation will always make me look at FX brand differently.
Fargo and Louie are the only shows I watch on their networks.
