3 Films in One!

Just stumbled across this on Netflix...what a find! It starts as a kind of David Mamet heist movie, albeit a funny one, then becomes something of a Troll Hunter/Pans Labyrinth mash up (at least those were two movies that came to mind while we were watching,) all the while maintaining a wonderful, if sometimes bizarre, sense of humor. It does go on a little long, and because of the pace of the film the subtitles go by quickly (It was a bit of a struggle for my wife and me to finish reading some of the longer titles before they changed, but then we got used to the pace.) But it was worth the little extra effort because this is a fun film.

Agreed. I'm a huge fan of this director and sadly most of his movies start out with huge promise, just like W&B, but then they kind of come apart at the end, being overlong and for trying to be too many things at once. I'm happy to say that Alex de la iglesia pulls it off here really well. I also had a blast watching. If you can I recommend you track these down as well:

The Day of the Beast (Perfect movie)
Dance with the Devil
The Last Circus (Is a perfect example of what I mean. Starts out really strong but then it kind of loses me)
The Perfect Crime

All out of bubble gum.
