Pretty good

A lot of star power here, and, surprisingly, beautiful outdoor photography.

They take one view of the cause of Wilde's death, which is not necessarily the most supported theory, and don't even explain it all that well. But maybe that's good and it will get more people to go and learn more about Wilde.

ummmmm, fail!

pretty good? really?

smh

I found it underwhelming - a shame, as it was clearly such a passion project of Everett's, and he (along with Colin Morgan) is very good in the film. It's beautifully designed and nicely shot, has some memorable moments scattered here and there but just kind of sits there, always watchable but never really memorable. 5/10

Hmm, I went up to 7. The IMDb rating is 6.2.
Do you have another Wilde biopic you prefer?

reply

I enjoyed Wilde with Stephen Fry but it’s many years since I saw it. 6/10 so not what I’d call definitive, but has many virtues. I do feel Everett gave the better performance of the two.

I thought it was OK. Well acted, but story was all over the place and wasn't paced very well. It was very much a passion project.

"The untold story of the last days in the tragic times of , a person who observes his own failure with ironic distance and regards the difficulties that beset his life with detachment and humor."

THE SYNOPSIS HURT MY THOUGHTS.😣
