You Either Like it or Hate it

I've been reading a lot of the comments on here and it seems like everyone either likes it or hates it, no in between. I found myself laughing pretty hard at some of the jokes Ms. McCarthy says. I've always thought Sandra Bullock was overrated (just my opinion) and her role in this movie could have been played by anyone. She was basically playing the same role she played in the Ms. Congeniality (i.e. FBI agent with no home life). The role simply required someone to be a straight (wo)man for McCarthy.

Having said that, I thought the movie's biggest drawback was the action wasn't funny, it was just a series of funny one liners. I thought McCarthy's delivery was the funninest thing in it, but the series of events were just an excuse to get her character into position to spout crass zingers (funny as they were). In other words, the plot was not being driven by events that were funny. It was a pretty vanilla cops and robbers script with lots of worn out cliches. Still, McCarthy's energy makes it just funny enough to not feel like you wasted 2 hours.

I watched it today and didn't really like it or hate it. I thought it was OK and rated it a 5. But I pretty much agree with your analysis, especially on Sandra Bullock being overrated.

I'm one of them that like the movie.

Either you like it or dislike it or are indifferent to it. Like every other movie.

I thought it was ok. Nothing special but not terrible.

This movie wasn't polarizing at all. It was a standard cop buddy comedy.

Anyone who "hated" it really needs to get over themselves. It wasn't a great movie, but it was far from "hateable".

Anyone who loved it either irrationally loves one of the actresses and thinks she can do no wrong, or, they probably hasn't seen many of the better cop buddy comedies that have come out over the last 30 years or so.

6/10 for me. I didn't love it or hate it. Chuckled at a few of the jokes, most of the jokes fell flat because they were cheap ripoffs of moments/scenes from better movies.

I LOVE Sandra Bullock in this movie. She's so adorably dopey, uptight and hilarious. The 'tracheotomy' scene was the funniest scene I've seen in a while and just her general demeanour juxtaposed against McCarthy....good opposite chemistry. Very funny chicks.

"Next time try taking the pancakes out of his mouth. You're not a real doctor." Hilarious!🐭

I surprised myself because I really liked this movie. Overall I find a small percentage of comedies to be any good. McCarthy is the movie's driving force with her physical skill magnifying the abundance of great lines written for her role. Bullock is perfect as the dysfunctional person hidden behind a goody two shoes facade. The Bullock/McCarthy dynamic was immediate and evolved to the point that initial cartoon aspects of their characters melt into a more credible and likeable partnership. This is a talented cast and I was disappointed that (most notably) Jane Curtin and Bill Burr weren't given more of an opportunity to contribute. There are predictable aspects to this movie but to my way of thinking they don't weigh the movie down or more importantly get in the way of fine leading performances.

No one can convince anyone to laugh at a movie that they don't find funny. But no one can convince me NOT to laugh at this one! I think it's funnier every time I watch it.

weed will convince you to laugh when its not funny
